Roomie Troubleeeee

Ever had to live with a roommate ? We all know how that experience can be.Here's how my roomies have turned out.
As I begin this paragraph there is a constant ting ting tingting.. ting ting tiding ting playing in my room from my roomie's guitar. It is nice to hear to a certain extent. This stage is called Hey Guitar! stage . After some time , it gets monotonous and then comes a point called Enough Already! At this point you just feel like taking the guitar in your hand and shoving it right up his &*$ ! Next comes the stage How much harm can some music do ? Here you try to ignore the music but it gets you,it gets you right on your nerve. After you pass this point the guitar will not bother you anymore .I am waaay past all these stages now .

Then we go  the division of duties . Hey I fetched water yesterday,Today's your turn .Well ,I emptied the dustbin yesterday . And it goes on for 10 minutes . This is the most complex of problems when it comes to sharing a room. Two people i know (yeah one of them is yegnesh) who shared a room did not buy toothpaste for two months because they had lost track of whose turn it was to buy the toothpaste. You cannot buy two pieces of everything because that is just plain stupid. What do you do in such a situation huh ? There should be a roommate rule book which clearly states the rules of sharing and buying stuff. That would be something , wouldn't it ?

                           

Every person has a compulsive disorder ,don't tell me you don't have one ,then your compulsive disorder would be Lying. For example I have a compulsive disorder of doing things in order. Ironical isn't it ? My roomies in the past and present have had compulsive disorders ranging from Soaking the clothes in water for 3 days to pretending to play drums on the table with a pair of pencils . The most recent one to this list is Keeping the room clean.The thing with roomies and their disorders is that they try to make you a part of their weird little routines .For example You also live in the room. Can't you see its dirty ?. I can see our room is dirty , I just choose to ignore the dirt .
                                 

The induction effect as one of my friend calls it, is one of the most dangerous effects of having a roommate. I just sit there with a Advanced concepts of Financial accounting in my hand and try very hard to figure out why Rs. 125 was deducted from Bad debts column in the balance sheet and suddenly Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are involved in a high speed chase on my roomie's laptop. Now what will i do ? I am no Gautama Buddha to keep looking into my book. I close it in a flash and my "Today i should finish accounting" resolution goes into deep slumber . This Induction thing has a lot of other effects like making you hungry when your roomie goes to the mess ,making you feel dirty when your roomie has just had a bath . Do we need to get into the details?

The biggest problem with the world is that every guy or girl ranging from Michelle Obama to the Cook in my mess is unique in his own right. So their tastes vary. Imagine hearing this dialogue at 2 o clock in the morning  " Lets go to pune tonight,we'll hang out and come back tomorrow night,It'll be fun ". I know the movie Hangover was fun to watch but trying to replicate that in real life is not my cup of tea .Also waking me up at 6 o clock in the morning to go to the gym because someone said Girls come to gym during the morning time is taking a huge risk with your life .Seriously.

Enough of cribbing about roommate . One thing you need not worry about when living with a roomie is oversleeping . Somehow one of you will wake up and even if neither of you wake up on time ,you have someone to blame . So you don't have to hate yourself the whole day for missing the Business Statistics class.The other advantage is Company. Opening Facebook(that's right with a capital F) and looking at it for half an hour is fun , but doing that the whole day makes you a Loser. A roommate will never let you stay on the internet continuously for fifteen minutes,leave alone facebooking the whole day.


The numerous little games you develop to play within the room is one of the best things about sharing a room. Remember Fireball developed by Joey and Chandler in F.R.I.E.N.D.S ? We've recently developed an echo effect where the same song is played from two laptops on four different Media players with a one second lag between each other.Even Pink floyd's sound engineering comes nowhere close to that effect. The huge repertoire of old time stories ranging from Proctor calls , failed dates,caught cheating during exams to weekend trip with seven rupees in your pocket ,which crop up from time to time is worth all the trouble that you go through with your roomie .

Girls may have their own share of problem like roomie stealing make-up or copying her hairstyle . Haven't shared a room with a girl YET . So will write about it when that happens.Having said all this my roomies can post an even bigger blog entry about my annoying little habits.Go ahead. No one's perfect , I am no exception.
Roomie - Can't live with one ,Can't live without one !
