Twenty One Things

Okay . As advised , No cheap tricks . I love December , I don't know why .Sadly the feeling has not been the same for other months . Here's a list of twenty one things that I have learned in one of the weirdest years so far : 2011 .  Nothing special about twenty one but I tried twenty and it didn't go with the mood of the year, so here it  goes


1.  As cliched and corny as it sounds , You are the average of the five people who you spend the most time with .  Surround yourself with Genuine people . Notice the capital g in genuine ?

2. I am saying this at the risk of sounding philosophical but I cannot leave this out . Always be Honest  , even though it  may not be fruitful in the short term , it  works amazingly in the long run , especially when it comes to dealing with the fairer sex . Wish I had known this earlier .

3.  It usually takes a hundred times more pain to lose weight than the pleasure you derived from eating  in the first place .Watch what you eat .  It took me  the whole of four months and a zillion  laps round the ground to reach the standard weight for a person my age , which in my honest opinion is far too low . Damn the law of averages
  
4. Even though you run the risk of being robbed /raped/molested/arrested while traveling , always travel alone when you get the chance . You learn so many things about yourself in those long journeys that you never knew existed.  Also you don't need to fight over who gets the upper birth .

5. Never have enough balance in your mobile to make a STD call  because no matter how strong your resolve is , one picture of your ex in a T shirt you chose for her , is enough to make you fall into the hole again. Okay, I did not mean the hole you are picturing in your head right now !

6. Contrary to what The Bible or The Gita might say , No one is counting the mistakes you make . Make as many as you want . Just one clause , Don't make the same ones again. Fair enough ?

7.  Being rude or demanding does not accomplish anything . Being nice to  Security guards , Mess workers , Autowaalas , Janitors  and other people who make your life easier isn't going to cost you a paisa . How would you feel if you were made to stand and stare at people walking in and out of the gate round the clock for 365 days ?

8. Everything feels ,looks ,sounds better when high .  How else would I explain my roommate watching Singham (starring the guy who stole Kajol away from all of us ) five times in two days and laughing uncontrollably every time ?

9. Chicken is overrated .Yes. Ham and Bacon made my taste buds come alive like never before . Don't be afraid to try new food or anything new for that sake . Thank you Ritwik and Santhosh for dragging me to that Breakfast buffet

10.  I am going against Bill Gates here but I believe life is fair and it  always,always gives you a second chance. Just be prepared when it arrives .

11.  Two years in a B-School have instilled in me a new found respect for people following their passion. It is so hard and acceptable to lose track of things that we love and settle into a secure future , but as Dravid put it in his speech : I have been doing something I love for a living for the past twenty years , Now how many of you can get up and say the same thing ?   In case you didn't get the hint , Gawtham and Santhosh Venkatraman , this one is for you . Kudos .

12.  Independence is an underrated virtue . Always learn to do things on your own . If you are living alone , learn to wash your clothes and iron them . If you are smoking a Joint , learn to score ,crush and roll , because at the end of the day you will be judged by what you are not by what you have .

13.  Break ups are hard but eventually you will be alright . Don't be afraid to try again , Happiness only real when shared .

14 . All that you touch and all that you see is all your life will ever be . Pink Floyd  

15.  We are so busy growing up that we forget our parents are growing old too . Get to know them as individuals before it is too late . Trust me , You will be surprised .

16.  Invest in quality products that you will use often like clothes , footwear , cologne . Thanks to my slippers from Yebhi.com that made me realize that discounts exist for a reason and that reason is our greed .

17.  Every passing face on the road tells a story every bit as compelling and complicated as yours , Accept people as they are . You can’t change other people, and it’s rude to try .

18 . Of course it's Complicated . If it wasn't,  it would never have been  interesting .

19.  It's not the internet that's interesting ,It's what the people on it have got to say .  Always chose a real life option rather than a virtual one when given a choice . Even if it turns out ugly , you will always have a story to tell your grandchildren .

20. God gave us two ears and one mouth in that proportion for a reason . Figure it out soon and stick to it .

21. Gut feelings ,Instincts, are not for men . We are not blessed that way . Leave these big words to the women and  make thought out logical decisions  for yourself .

As I said earlier , I have never liked odd years and I think I never will . An even year was just four days away when I began writing this and now it's three . I have high hopes for this year . Not that High but the general uplifting high .  We'll see how it goes .
